    None. Besides colocation that game is not played with software only those days, but also with programmed FPGA. Look at Arista for the specialized switches (which can actually run parts of trading strategies).

    Running “software” only (particularly some “suggested” to you – i.e. not written by specialists) is not HFT, it is like amateur racing.

    On top, where do you colocate? 😉 That makes a hugh difference, too.

    How do you define *”High Frequency Traders”*.

    A lot of HFT is brokers matching orders (to their advantage) off the books as the market opens. Has little to do with trading or the speed at which a person or bot trades.
